__________ 2016-17 __________
Welcome to a new school year, Weston families!
The PTO is ready for another great year supporting the Weston Public Schools, and we hope you’ll join us for some of the many wonderful events and volunteer opportunities coming up in 2016-17.
Here are just some of the ways the Weston PTO works to enrich our school community and engage students, parents and teachers:
Connecting and informing parents through services such as our family directory (which will be available online this year for the first time), Westword newsletter and events like principals’ coffees and an ice cream social for new families.
Sponsoring Parent Education events including upcoming talks by Dr. Judith Owens on the importance of sleep, Carl Honore on “slow parenting”, and Dr. Alice Domar on the negative impact of perfectionism in both children and adults.
Providing volunteer opportunities so parents can be part of their children’s education, including room parent positions, arts and science enrichment, PTO board roles, school leadership positions and more.
Bringing arts and science to life through visiting authors and artists, hands-on science and math programs such as animal visits by Drumlin Farm and geometry taught through origami, and an annual STEAM Night.
Organizing community outreach drives and activities that provide valuable learning opportunities, such as the annual Bristol Lodge food drive and Collect and Sort event for Cradles to Crayons.
Supporting our faculty and staff by hosting appreciation events and coordinating volunteers for school activities and events.
These programs and services would not be possible without the support and involvement of our members. If you haven’t already done so, please click here to join or renew your PTO membership today. The PTO is terrific way to get involved with your child’s education and connect with the Weston schools and community. Please join us and help to make our schools the best that they can be!
